The MSC.1/Circ.1206 SOLAS Regulation

On July 1, 2006, the new IMO regulation (MSC.1/Circ.1206 SOLAS chapter III) came into effect as a guide line. This new regulation recommends for the periodic servicing and maintenance of lifeboats , davits and on-load release gears that annual and five years inspection have to be made by original equipment manufacturer or skilled service companies homologated by them. As a consequence of the new regulations for maintenance and service, classification societies and flag state administrations require to proceed accordingly.

Applicability

All ship owners, managers, lifeboat manufacturers and lifeboat maintenance service providers.
SOLAS Chapter III, Regulation 20.3 requires maintenance, testing and inspections to be carried out in a manner which will ensure the reliability of lifesaving and launching appliances. Regulations 20.6, 20.7 and 20.11 require ship owners’ representatives to conduct weekly, monthly and annual examinations of lifesaving appliances and launching appliances to confirm that they are fit for purpose.

Repair/Refurbish :

Collection / Delivery of Lifeboats from vessels/offshore platform either at supply base, anchorage or shipyards. Scope of Services, not limited to :

• Release gear system service

• Hull preservation or refurbishment using approved fire retardant resins, paint or gel-coating system

• Osmosis repairs of FRP hulls

• Engine overhaul, servicing or renewal

• Water spray systems – overhauling or servicing

• Compressed air systems – servicing including hydrostatic testing and refilling of air bottles

• Testing / Re-certification with Governing Authorities

Load testing

We offer a comprehensive load testing service, catering to the specific needs of clients, whether for static or dynamic load testing of davits, winches, cranes, lifting equipment and wire falls, in both the marine and industrial sectors.

Seminars/Training

We organize safety seminars relating to the safe and efficient inspections of a multitude of differing hook release systems and lifeboat configurations.
Safety seminars generally cover generic release types and system operating methods. Supported by our fully equipped training rooms and operating lifeboat and davit models, personnel actively engaged in the inspection of lifesaving equipment have the opportunity to gain invaluable experience and knowledge of these systems.
